There are all kinds of tiny little clothes, what should I do
The experts call for separating clothes into whites, pastels, colorfast brights and darks and then separating them again into lightly soiled and heavily soiled. This makes eight tiny loads of laundry, so most mothers combine at least some of those categories. The essential rule is
Keep the “faders” and really grubby clothes away from the white, light and delicate items which may actually pick up dirt if they rub shoulders with their grimier neighbors.
When you are sorting, gather up tiny items like baby booties and put them in mesh bags so they will be less likely to get lost.
How should I wash clothes of older babies and toddlers
Clothes of older babies that get put into the regular family wash should be checked as you would your own. All these things will seem very time-consuming if you do them while you are standing over a washing machine, so you may want to get in the habit of making these adjustments when you undress your child.
Turn pockets inside out (particularly important when you have a toddler who stuffs things into them);
Turn down cuffs and brush away any loose dirt; zip up zippers and hook hooks to prevent getting them stuck in the machine or with other clothes.
To keep corduroy crawlers from getting lint on them, turn them inside out. Do the same for items that are embroidered or appliquéd, so the decorations won’t get snagged.
