Tropic of Cancer
The Tropic of Cancer is located 23.5 degree North of the Equator. The tropic is so called because when the rays of the Sun fall vertically over this latitude, it enters the zodiacal sign of Cancer. (June 20 - July 20) i.e the Sun is directly overhead at noon on the Tropic of Cancer on June 21 (the beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere and the beginning of winter in the Southern Hemisphere).
It runs through Mexico, the Bahamas, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, India, and Southern China.
Tropic of Capricorn
The Tropic of Capricorn is located 23.5 degree South of the Equator. The tropic is so called because when the rays of the Sun falls vertically over this latitude, it enters the zodiacal sign of Capricorn (December 20 - Jan 20) i.e the sun is directly overhead at noon on the Tropic of Capricorn on December 21 (the beginning of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and the beginning of summer in the Southern Hemisphere).
It runs through Australia, Chile, Southern Brazil, and northern South Africa. India lies between the Equator and the Tropic of Cancer.
