Do you know what Yahoo! Was originally called? Well, it was named after its founder Jerry Yang, and had a pretty long name --- Jerry’s Guide to the World Wide Web. The name was subsequently changed to Jerry and David’s Guide to the World Wide Web. But it was in the summer of 1994 that the name Yahoo! Was born, which curiously stands for Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle, whatever that means. Apparently Jerry Yang consulted a dictionary when coming up with this rather long-winded name. Thank heavens he shortened it to Yahoo!
