General knowledge – you can never have enough of it. No matter how much you already know there is still that much more you need to know, right? There is no way you can sit and absorb GK at one go. Take a small step every day. Resolve to read about a new person/ place/ animal/ plant; whatever catches your fancy, everyday.Don’t stop there. After a while talk about it with a friend or anyone else willing to lend you an ear.No ears available? Do not despair, write it down.
This ‘revision’ while talking and /or writing will ensure that you remember whatever you have read.
Also keep your eyes, ears and mind open to the various influences in your life be it television, the radio, books, newspapers, friends, workshops, teachers and others. You never know what facts a conversation or an experience may throw up.
With practice you will be able to recall such interesting ‘facts’ whenever you wish to. Listening To Music Or Studying
Music is often said to help students concentrate and study better. But sometimes music can be irksome too. Here are some pointers for you to make music your study partner.
• Its pretty sensible if your choice of music is more on the mellow side rather than some tap dancing number that would want to make you jig.
• The concept of music is to just aid you to concentrate and not make you shout yourself hoarse to be heard, so keep the volume down.
• If you are memorizing something it would be a good idea to listen to some instrumental music rather than one with lyrics.
• Put some music that you are familiar with and some new chartbuster. You can save that for later.
• Remember that studying is your priority so just turn off the music if it is a hindrance.
• It’s better to choose what you want to listen to before you get to studying, valuable time is spent well on study rather than on picking music.
• Try not to become so dependant on studying to music that you can't study without it. Every once in a while, study in a quiet place.
